Mother's Day 2009

So, every year Derek says "Are you sure you don't want to do something else?" Every year I say "I'm sure!" I spent the day planting, mulching, edging and smiling! Most of my plants come back each year so I just have to plant a few annuals and clean up the beds. I also did some transplanting thanks to a great neighbor who split some of her plants.

See how the plants are all going right? The wind was blowing so hard that it was breaking the leaves off the hydranga bush. It survived the night so I have hope that it will perk up and bloom this year. I had a burning bush here but an ant colony underneath the bush killed it...I killed the colony.... and now I'm starting up a new little bed.

Derek also spent Sunday pampering me with breakfast in bed, a wonderful dinner (we BBQ'D) and a cake. It was his first try with this recipe and can I say it was AMAZING! Thanks moma Van O for teaching your son cook:) Lastly I wanted to just say Happy Mothers Day to everyone.....if we didn't have mothers we wouldn't exist, so for that I'm grateful.
